Enhancing my skills

In this section, we summarise current andragogical, didactic considerations and their possible applications in those most important issues in the field of supporting adult learning.

The topics and resources discussed and used here reflect the approach and resources of SVEB’s (Swiss Association for Adult Learning) modular training for adult educators (ToT).

The topics here have been developed with a pragmatic approach, focusing on actual usability. The platform and available time are not suitable for theoretical knowledge development. However, we are convinced that the pragmatic approaches and ideas presented here, widely used in countries leading in adult learning, serve as a valuable source of inspiration and development for professionals experienced in supporting adult learning.

There are currently 12 topics on modern approaches and methods to support adult learning. In addition to written, text-based resources, interactive elements and multimedia content support the learning process.

To our estimation each learning topic can be covered in around 30-90 minutes learning time.

The Design of Learning Topics

Each topic starts with a short introduction to help you understand the topic and its importance.

Featured Source Materials

Deeper understanding is supported by source material that has been identified as highly relevant. These are handbooks, manuals and guides that are at the international forefront of the profession and worthy of in-depth study. The highlighted resources are available in two versions:

  • in the original (mostly English) downloadable version,
  • in Hungarian, in an unedited (DeepL) raw translation.

We recommend that you rely as much as possible on original language sources and use raw translations only when necessary!

Additional Resources

You will also find additional, supplementary resources under each topic. These might enrich the coverage of the topic, or offer access in different formats (e.g. presentations, short extracts, etc.).

Reflection Tasks

At the end of each topic there are reflection exercises. With these exercises and questions we invite you to:

  • examine your own activities as adult eduator
  • reflect on the usefulness of what you have read
  • experience new methods and approaches.

Our aim is to make PROFADUL a modern, user-friendly platform that effectively supports the quality self-development of adult learning practitioners and promotes the professionalisation of adult education.
